Unfortunately I didn't manage to get to Hannah Marshall's show, so seeing the collection in the exhibition would just have to do. The thing about Hannah Marshall is that all the work is in the detail and construction of the clothes. On the catwalk, it's hard to see all the work and time that's gone into planning such complex ideas.

The collection, made up from 2 colours- black and a faded turquoise hue (the colour looks completely different in real life compared to the catwalk pictures- the detail: flawless, the fabrics: subtly creating surface detail under the lights.
Double layered, neat buttoned collars
and simple silhouettes let the cleverly engineered suede layers stand out on the jacket sleeves and skirt fronts.

The collection, again like Wang and Ekrelius, took its cues from architecture and machinery. Marshall's "Strict Machine"- bold, power, control and restraint, which is clear from the strict silhouettes and tight folds/pleating that reshape the body.

I love the matt suede, which could so easily not have worked as it's a notoriously difficult material to use without making something look outdated.
The Catwalk included a concept video by RANKIN- the fashion film once again making its presence increasingly known at fashion week.
Still relatively new to the LFW catwalk, after making her debut in SS 2010, Marshall is gradually establishing herself to become a firm slot on the schedule. She's definitely an inspiration for any newly graduated designer (+ it helps when you get a lucky break!).
