Introducing.... Nicole Murray...

....at the One/Off Exhibition

After the Simon Ekrelius show I decided to have a potter around the On/Off Exhibition and I came across Nicole Murray.

Graduating from LCF MA in 2010, her AW 10 collection is currently avaliable in Harrods.

The colours are what first stood out for me (my favorite colour palette actually and scarily similar to the colours I was wearing!). Colour was closely followed by the innovative smocking and folding that Nicole carefully manipulates by hand in order to keep her designs original her and are difficult to reproduce. This artisan quality is a rare thing in such a fast-changing retail market so it was refreshing to find a young designer with such a passion for this hand-manipulated quality.

The fabrics were beautiful- I especially liked the simple dress with smocking around the waist and the contrast woven-leather jacket with an off centre opening. This piece was a classic tailored jacket with lapel, but with a clever twist- a pure statement piece.

Exactly all the things I look for when I buy clothes to fill my wardrobe....next stop Harrods to see what I can buy!

Nicole Murray is definitely a designer I will keep my eye on!
